FDA approves ASTEPRO Nasal Spray

AsteproMeda Pharmaceuticals Inc has received the FDA approval for ASTEPRO(R) (azelastine HCl) Nasal Spray 0.15% for the treatment of the symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (SAR and PAR). ASTEPRO is the first nasal antihistamine to offer convenient once-daily dosing for patients who suffer from seasonal allergies. ASTEPRO relieves rhinitis symptoms, including nasal congestion, without an added decongestant such as pseudoephedrine. It is formulated with azelastine, a leading nasal antihistamine in the treatment of seasonal rhinitis in the US. The product will be available in pharmacies by early October 2009.

Cetirizine receives FDA approval

TaroTaro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for cetirizine hydrochloride tablets (OTC). Cetirizine Tablets are approved for the temporary relief of symptoms due to hay fever or other respiratory allergies (sneezing; runny nose; itchy, watery eyes; itchy throat or nose) in adults and children 2 years of age and older. The tablets will be available in 5 mg and 10 mg strengths. The Cetirizine Tablets are bioequivalent to McNeil Consumer Healthcare’s Zyrtec®.

Auriga Laboratories strengthens Extendryl product line

Auriga Laboratories Inc has announced the launch of Extendryl® PEM and Extendryl® GCP. The two new products will be prescribed in the treatment of cough, cold and allergy symptoms. The company intends to strengthen the Extendryl product line and the product launch appears to be timed to coincide with the start of the Spring allergy season.
